I had several weird issues all of which we 100% covered under warranty. All in all I believe 328i to be a good reliable car. If you can, try to avoid going to a 2012 and 2013 328. Later years have a significantly faster/better iDrive system as well as some slight engine improvements.
And the last problem with the N20 engine is infamous, the charge pipe failure. The charge pipe is the pipe that feeds the engine with the compressed air. Sometimes people tend to crank up the boost levels from the turbocharger to their engine, and when they do, the charge pipe can fail and cause the turbo not to work.
